Pyramids and Sundowns Draw in African Champions League

Pyramids FC and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw in a match held on Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, as part of the third round of the first group stage in the African Champions League.

In a tightly contested encounter, Pyramids FC, led by Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco, successfully thwarted the attacking efforts of the dangerous Mamelodi Sundowns, coached by Rulani Mokwena. The match witnessed a dramatic red card for player Osama Jalal in the 89th minute.

With this draw, Mamelodi Sundowns tops the group standings with 4 points, followed by TP Mazembe from Congo in second place. Nouadhibou from Mauritania and Pyramids FC from Egypt occupy the subsequent positions, with goal difference separating them.

Early in the match, Pyramids FC attempted a surprise goal through a cross from El Sheebi, but Ramadan Sobhi's header was comfortably caught by goalkeeper Williams. A goal by Karim Hafez was disallowed due to an infringement against a Sundowns defender.

Osama Galal showcased his skills with a crucial save against a dangerous opportunity from the Sundowns player Ribamar. Sundowns made a substitution in their lineup, bringing on Tabilo Morena for the injured Abdul Manan Butoyi after 22 minutes. The first half ended with a goalless draw (0-0).

In the second half, Pyramids FC launched continuous attacks, with Mohamed Hamdi unleashing a shot that deflected off Mawade and resulted in a corner kick. The match concluded in a 0-0 draw after a late attempt from Nkau hit the crossbar.

The draw leaves both teams with work to do in the subsequent matches as they aim to advance in the competition.
