Dele's Comeback on the Horizon

The 27-year-old midfielder, Dele Alli, is gearing up for a return to the pitch after being sidelined for more than nine months. His last appearance was during an unsuccessful loan spell at Besiktas on February 26.

Since joining Everton from Tottenham in January 2022, he has played only one match, with a lingering thigh injury keeping him on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.

Dele is working towards making a competitive comeback at Goodison Park. When asked for an update on the English international with 37 caps, Everton's manager, Dyche, stated, "He's progressing well. He's back playing on the grass under the fitness coaches and doing exercises related to his injury, but he's not ready to join us just yet. We hope he'll start slowly integrating with the team next week. He still has a way to go as he hasn't played for a long time; he needs a match program. The good news is that everything is stable, and he's feeling better. I saw him earlier, and he said, 'Yes, I feel in great shape.'"

Dele is contracted to Everton until the end of the 2023-24 season, potentially becoming a free agent next summer. He might be a costly investment for Everton currently, as the initial installment of the complex deal, amounting to £30 million ($38 million), is due only after he participates in seven more matches.

He may get the chance to reach that number during the remaining season, as Everton faces seven more matches before the year-end, including a Premier League encounter with Newcastle on Thursday and a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Fulham on December 19.
