Valuable Victory for Al-Zawraa Against Naft Al-Basra
Al-Zawraa secured a significant victory against Naft Al-Basra with a 2-0 scoreline on Tuesday at Al-Fayha Sports Stadium in Basra, marking the seventh round of the Iraqi Premier League.
Ahmed Jalal, the winger for Al-Zawraa, showcased his skills by scoring the opening goal in the 31st minute. A powerful shot from a distance collided with Naft Al-Basra's defender, altering its direction into the net.
Adding to the lead, Ahmed Zamil scored the second goal for Al-Zawraa in the 45+2nd minute with a beautiful header from the left side, beating Naft Al-Basra's goalkeeper, Haider Jamal Al-Din.
In the 82nd minute, the home team missed a penalty kick taken by the Brazilian Joanderson, as Al-Zawraa's goalkeeper, Jalal Hassan, made an impressive save.
With this victory, Al-Zawraa moved up to the sixth position in the league table with 11 points. Meanwhile, Naft Al-Basra remained at the 13th spot with 7 points.
It's noteworthy that the current top three teams in the Iraqi Premier League are Naft Maysan, Al-Shurtah, and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, along with Al-Talaba.
