Paul Pogba and His Long Journey

From winning the World Cup to his stints with Manchester United and his current pause with Juventus: the success story and challenges of Paul Pogba in the world of football.

The midfield maestro, a World Cup winner, was at the peak of his powers during his early years in Turin between 2012 and 2016. At Manchester United, Pogba built a reputation as one of the most exciting talents in the footballing world.

However, his actions didn't always earn the admiration of his coaches. Romulo, who was previously on loan at Juventus, revealed on IFS TV via Twitch about how Allegri punished Pogba during the 2014-2015 season for not lowering the volume of his headphones. Romulo shared, "I remember the victory against Sassuolo; Pogba was listening to music with his headphones, but the volume was so high that everyone inside the locker room could hear it. Allegri fined him €20,000 the next day, despite him scoring a fantastic goal. Something that never happens in Brazil."

Allegri took charge of Juventus at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season, stepping into the role just one day before training began. The team won the Serie A title and reached the UEFA Champions League final in his first year. Romulo added insight into some players' initial desire to see Allegri ousted: "I played under Allegri in his first season with Juventus, and it was fantastic. However, some players were angry in the first month. They said, 'He has to leave; this is not good' because they were used to Conte. However, after three months, they regretted saying those things."

Allegri has now returned to Juventus for a second stint, with the team currently leading the Serie A table in the 2023-2024 season. Pogba is also part of the squad, but the 30-year-old player is currently under an indefinite suspension after failing a doping test.
