Will Newcastle Seek David De Gea's Assistance?

Newcastle United faces a serious setback as goalkeeper Nick Pope sustains a major injury, expected to sideline him for up to five months.

David De Gea emerges as a potential replacement. Pope's injury occurred during a Premier League match against Manchester United, prompting the club to consider negotiations with the former Manchester United goalkeeper, De Gea, according to reports.

Pope's untimely fall has raised concerns, with the club awaiting medical examination results. Journalist Mike McGrath suggests Pope could be out of play for an extended period. With the possibility of Pope's season-long absence, Newcastle is reportedly eyeing De Gea, who has been without a team since leaving Manchester United in the summer.

De Gea was linked to a move to Saudi Arabia during the recent transfer window, with Al-Nassr expressing interest. There were also rumors of Inter Miami's interest in Lionel Messi, but neither deal materialized.

As De Gea contemplates a return to the Premier League, he also has an offer from Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Professional League.

Nick Pope has been crucial in keeping the most clean sheets in the current Premier League season, conceding only six goals—just one more than Manchester United's Andre Onana.

This injury is a significant blow to both the club and the player, impacting his chances of making the England squad for the Euro 2024 tournament.

Currently, Eddie Howe will rely on Martin Dubravka in goal as the team prepares to face challenging matches in December, including fixtures against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League and Liverpool in the Premier League.
