Al-Ahli Jeddah Sets a Record: 5 Goals in the First Half

Outstanding Performance Elevates Al-Ahli to Third Place in the Saudi Professional League

Al-Ahli Jeddah achieved an exceptional milestone against Abha Club on Thursday evening in the fifteenth round of the Saudi Professional League. The accomplishment was marked by scoring five times during the first half, a feat occurring for the first time in their history in the professional league. Al-Ahli becomes the first team to achieve this feat since Al-Nassr in their match against Al-Adalah with a score of 5-1 in August 2020.

Firas Al-Brikan played a significant role in this achievement by scoring two goals, raising his goal tally to eight, with four goals for Al-Ahli and four for Al-Fateh, surpassing Salem Aldawsari, the star of Al-Hilal, who scored seven goals.

In this match, Al-Ahli achieved their largest victory of the season with a 6-0 result against Abha. The Spanish player Gabriel Vélez caught attention with his performance, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

At the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, Gabriel Vélez opened the scoring for Al-Ahli in the 20th minute, followed by Firas Al-Brikane scoring the second and third goals in the 22nd and 29th minutes, respectively.

Ivorian Franck Kessie added the fourth goal in the 38th minute, and Vélez scored his second and the team's fifth goal in the 45th minute.

Algerian star Riyad Mahrez concluded this impressive display by scoring the sixth goal in the 64th minute.

Al-Ahli's points increased to 30, securing the third position in the standings, while Abha's points stopped at 13, placing them in the fifteenth position, fourteenth from the bottom.
