Postecoglou Takes a Stand

Tottenham Manager Urges Rejection of IFAB's Ten-Minute Sin Bin, Focuses on Spurs' Rebound Against Man City

Ange Postecoglou, aged 58, has expressed his disapproval of the Premier League's contemplation of introducing a sin bin for players, asserting that there is "not much wrong" with the current state of the game. In a recent interview, the

Tottenham Hotspur

manager adamantly urged the league to discard the entire notion, stating, "Bin it, just bin the whole idea mate. Just forget about it. I don't understand why, and I've already said things on this kind of stuff, I just don't know why they keep interjecting themselves into the game. There's not that much wrong with the game. Bin it mate."

This stance aligns with the broader sentiment among Premier League leaders, including Everton's Sean Dyche, who also opposes the proposed rule change. The International Football Association Board (IFAB), responsible for the laws of the game, had recently announced their intention to explore the feasibility of implementing a ten-minute sin bin for deliberate fouls.

Despite the ongoing debate, Postecoglou now shifts his focus to rejuvenating the performance of his Tottenham side, currently positioned fifth in the Premier League. Having endured three consecutive defeats, including a recent loss to Aston Villa, Spurs aim for a turnaround as they face the challenging task of an away match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their upcoming fixture on December 3, 2023.
