Galaxy Surprises Wydad with a 1-0 Victory

Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy surprised the Moroccan hosts, Wydad Casablanca, securing a 1-0 victory at the Marrakech stadium on Saturday, in the first round of Group B matches in the CAF Champions League. Thabang Sesinyi scored the only goal for the Botswana team in the 33rd minute.

The match saw Wydad dominating without any significant threats to Galaxy's goalkeeper until the 12th minute when Ayoub Mallouki had the first real attempt, receiving the ball inside the penalty area and taking a shot that was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Wydad's eastern seaboard attempted a header for the first goal in the 24th minute, but the Botswana goalkeeper once again made a save. The effectiveness remained weak from Wydad's players in the remaining minutes.

Taking advantage of an error in midfield by Abdullahi Hamoud, Galaxy scored the lead through Vincent in the 33rd minute.

Wydad's reaction was feeble in the second half, even after coach Adel Ramzi introduced Buhre and Sampo Junior.

With this result, Wydad lost the match and dropped to the bottom of the group with no points. In the same group, an earlier match between ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast and Simba from Tanzania ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
