defender apologized to the fans of the Royal Club through his personal account on Twitter.

This came after the resounding loss of the Merengue against

Manchester City

4-0 on Wednesday evening in the second leg match of the

Champions League

semi-finals, which was held between them at the Etihad Stadium.

Militao wrote on his Twitter account: "

Real Madrid fans: I want to apologize for not achieving our biggest goal of the season and to say that we will come back stronger and more prepared for next season."

And the Brazilian player continued,

"Thank you to our fans for their unconditional support throughout the season, Hala Madrid, and nothing else."

Real Madrid was eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals after losing by four goals to Man City.
