Breaking: Chelsea sacks Graham Potter after Aston Villa defeat

A 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge left Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table. As a result, Chelsea confirmed relieving their head coach Graham Potter of his duties.

Graham Potter, who succeeded Tuchel in Chelsea, came a target of criticism after a run of one victory in 11 games after the New Year. He seemingly turned things around as the club headed the international break with three wins and a draw. However, a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday became a final blow to his Chelsea career as the club decided to sack him on Sunday.

"Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club,"

a statement read.

"Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter-final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future."

After their recent loss to Aston Villa, Chelsea will be aiming to recover with a win against Liverpool in their upcoming match at Stamford Bridge.
