Marcus Bettinelli extends with Cheslea until 2026

Marcus Bettinelli has agreed to extend his current contract with the club. The new deal will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2026

Bettinelli has been mostly a reserve goalkeeper for

Chelsea

, playing behind Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, after transferring from west London neighbors Fulham in 2021. He has only played once in a competitive game for the Blues, which was during their dominant 5-1 win over Chesterfield in the previous season's FA Cup.

Bettinelli

has been primarily a backup option for Chelsea's main goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy since he joined the club from Fulham in 2021. He has only played in one competitive match for Chelsea, which was their 5-1 win against Chesterfield in the FA Cup last season.

"It is a privilege to be at a club like Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world,"

he told the club's official website.

"A couple of years ago when I signed, I was delighted to be here, delighted to sign.

"To be here now and see the club going through this transition and seeing what we are developing, it is amazing to be a part of, and I am buzzing to be here for an extra couple of years."

Chelsea will play against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League fixture after the international break. The Blues are currently sitting at the 10th position in the table with 11 games left to play. They are 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
