Matthaus insists Bayern has no reason to be afraid of Erling Haaland

Scoring 42 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, Haaland is enjoying marvelous form in his debut Manchester City season. However, the Germany legend believes Bayern has no reason to be afraid of him in their quarter-final Champions League fixture against City.

Before switching to Manchester City, Erling Haaland faced Bayern 7 times as a Borussia Dortmund player and lost all of the seven games. Hence, the Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus believes the Bundesliga champions should not be afraid of the Norwegian striker.

Speaking on

, Matthaus said: "Haaland played against Bayern more often and scored less. You don't need to be afraid of him."

Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic earlier said: "Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world," Salihamidzic added. "He does it very, very well.

"But we defended very well against Paris. I believe that we perform best against the best teams.

"These are also the highlights of the season for the fans. This is a top pairing. I'm looking forward to it."

Haaland became the first player to score five goals in a single Champions League knockout game since Lionel Messi after scoring five goals in the Citizens' 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
