Mbappe to focus on Ligue 1 after Champions League exit
With PSG being knocked out of yet another Champions League campaign, there have been questions raised about Mbappe’s future
PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich, losing 3-0 on aggregate. However World Cup Golden Boot winner
Kylian Mbappeinsists that this will not affect his future at the club.
PSG failed to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg as Bayern Munich scored two with Choupo-Moting and Gnabry. Bayern now join Benfica, Chelsea and AC Milan in the quarter finals as they await next week’s results.
This is
PSG’s second consecutive Champions League round of 16 exit, which may strengthen the reasons why Mbappe could join Real Madrid.
When asked by reporters whether the elimination would impact his future, Mbappe said:
"No, no, I'm calm, the only thing that matters to me this season is winning the championship and then we'll see."
The 24-year-old added:
"We are disappointed. That's how it is, we have to move on, try to challenge everyone.
"We didn't miss much when we look at the state of the two teams, [but] they have a team built to win the Champions League.
"At the start of the season, during the first Champions League press conference, I said that we were going to do our best and give our maximum.
"We're going to question ourselves and go back to our day-to-day life in Ligue 1."
