Qatari Emir wants to buy Man United for £4.5 Billion but needs UEFA rules to be changed!
The Emir of Qatar needs a UEFA rule to change in order for him to buy Manchester United.
With the Glazers now listening to offers for
Manchester United, buyers have been lining up. But the presence of Emir of Qatar has shocked many, as he is willing to pay for up to £4.5 Billion to buy the Red Devils.
However, the Guardian reports that Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani might have a tough time of bidding for the club due to some UEFA regulations.
Since Emir already owns PSG since 2011, he might face problems concerning the Champions League. UEFA’s rules clearly state that clubs with same owners cannot face each other in the same competitions, meaning
PSGwon’t be able to face Manchester United in the Champions League.
Qatar officials are reportedly aware of the issue and are working on solutions.
While the Glazers have named their price for the club as £6bn Emir of Qatar thinks £4.5bn is a much more realistic offer and evaluation of the club’s assets.
Emir of Qatar’s bid may be contested by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who himself was born in the Greater Manchester area and is one of the richest British people. Saudis are reported to be in the mix as well.
