Rayo Vallecano president confirms Fran Garcia will join Real Madrid this summer

Rayo Vallecano defender Fran Garcia will return to Real Madrid in the summer after three seasons away.

Rayo Vallecano

president, Raul Martin Presa has confirmed that they have reached an agreement with

Real Madrid

over the transfer of

Fran Garcia

, and he will join Real in the summer.

Garcia joined Real Madrid's academy in 2009, and later joined Vallecano on a loan deal in 2020. The 23-year-old left-back joined Rayo Vallecano permanently on a four-year contract in 2021.

"Fran Garcia will go to Real Madrid at the end of this season. We have reached an agreement,"

admitted Rayo president Raul Martin Presa on 'El Partidazo de COPE’.

Bayer Leverkusen was interested in signing Garcia in January, but Garcia prefers to return to Madrid. Garcia’s release clause is valued at just €10 million, but Real Madrid can re-sign him for just €5 million. However, they decided to let him stay at his club until the summer.

Presa added:

”They have prevented Fran Garcia from going to Bayer Leverkusen, obviously because it is in their interest. They believe he is a player who can give them a lot.

"They have behaved like a gentleman club, it has to be said. They could have taken him now because of Mendy's absence. By waiting, they have prevented him from going to Bayer Leverkusen. I think they are right to sign him because he is a player who is growing."

Some reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid is planning to sell Garcia after signing him from Vallecano. Other reports claim that they want to sell Ferland Mendy and keep Garcia.
