Memphis Depay is ‘eager’ to show what he can do at Atletico

The Dutch forward is thankful of Atletico Madrid for putting their trust in him.

Following his €3million move from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid,

Memphis Depay

has revealed that he is eager to repay the faith Ateltico put in him.

The former Lyon and Manchester United player had only started twice in La Liga for Barcelona since the start of this season which made him want to move to get regular playing time. With 6 months on his contract, the deal costs Atletico a meager €3million which could potentially rise to €4million.

After signing his two-and-a-half year new contract at Atletico, Depay spoke to the press, telling them of his eagerness to represent the club and repay the faith they’ve put in him.

"Everything has gone great,"

he said

. "I have had a good conversation with the coach [Diego Simeone] and I am eager to show what I can do.

"It's a very big club, with an impressive history. I've a heard a lot of good stories from them. They wanted me to be here. [That] has been very important."

He then went on to talk about his meeting with Simeone, saying:

"The most important thing [is] he wants me to feel t home.

"That makes me excited. He is known [for] his passion for the club and now he wants me to be as ready as soon as possible. He liked me when I was at Lyon."

Apparently former teammate, Griezmann, also played a role in the negotiations, when he talked about

Atletico

.

"He told me many good things,"

he added.

"The people are nice, [but] it wasn't a surprise. They have welcomed me with open arms [and] I want to play with the team now."
