Bale after Wales’ defeat to Iran: “Gutted but we have to go again”

Two Stoppage-time goals gave Iran a deserved 2-0 World Cup win over 10-man Wales in Group B on Friday. The chances of Wales seem thin as they have to face England in their final group game with only one point.

Iran

scored two goals in stoppage time to beat 10-man

Wales

and keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the World Cup alive as substitutions Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian scored in the 98th and 101st minute for Carlos Queiroz's side.

The former Tottenham and Real Madrid star,

Gareth Bale

, expressed his frustration in his post-match interview with

BBC Sport

. He said:

"We are gutted, there is no other way to say it.

"We fought until the last second and we need to go again. We are all gutted but we have to pick ourselves up straight away. It is going to be difficult for us for sure. We will have to see. What can I say? We recover and we have to go again."

Iran dominated the match as Wales' only chance came in the 12th minute shortly before Gholizadeh scored for Iran in the 17th minute following a mistake from Wales player but it was ruled out for offside.

Wales was reduced to 10-man after

Hennessey

was shown a red card for a high challenge on Mehdi Taremi in the 85th minute.
