Mancini not satisfied with Italy's performance against Hungary

Italy manager Roberto Mancini says despite a 2-0 victory against Hungary in the Nations League he is not happy with his side's performance on Monday night.

earned a 2-0 victory away to

on Monday in the final match of the Nations League to reach the semi-final next year in the Netherlands. Giacomo Raspadori and Federico Dimarco scored for Mancini’s side in this match.

“We did very well for 70 minutes, but I did not like the final 20 one little bit,”

the coach told RAI Sport.

“When you are 2-0 up, you have to control the game, but we lost control of it and allowed ourselves to be pinned back. I didn’t like that at all.”

Italy used the 3-5-2 system in Friday’s 1-0 win against England and they again use this new system on Monday against Hungary but Mancini says the Nations League success does not change the fact that the Azzurri should watch the World Cup from home.

“It’s important that we reached the Final Four for the second time in a row. Unfortunately, the rest remains, there’s no getting away from it,” continued the CT.

“The lads did well to get back on track in an extremely difficult group, now we have more work to do.”

Italy now has to get ready for the Nations League Final Four and European Championship qualifiers in 2023.

“We need to just get through December, after that it will feel easier…”

Italy finished at the top of the table with 11 points after two consecutive wins. Hungary with 10 points failed to qualify for the semi-final stage.

and  England also finished third and fourth in the group. Gareth Southgate's side was relegated to League B.
