Netherlands 1-0 Belgium: Oranje win Nations League group

The Netherlands beat Belgium with one goal on Sunday to reach the Nations League Finals.

1-0 on Sunday at the Johan Cruijff Arena to finish at the top of Group A4 and qualifies for next year's finals tournament.

Virgil van Dijk

scored the only goal in the second half for Van Gaal’s side. Liverpool star powered home a header from a corner in the 73rd minute.

Belgium started the game brightly and was the better team in the first half. Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi both missed decent chances for Red Devils.

Both teams had chances to score in the second half. Dumfries wasted a good chance for the Netherlands and Amadou Onana was denied by the Dutch goalkeeper.

Courtois stopped Davy Klaassen and Bergwijn from scoring in the second half and Belgium could equalize with the last kick of the game but Dodi Lukebakio’s overhead kick struck the post.

The Netherlands finished the group stage with 16 points. Roberto Martinez’s side finished in second place with 10 points.

The Netherlands will face Senegal, Ecuador, and Qatar in the World Cup Group A. Belgium will also face Canada, Morocco, and Croatia. Martinez's side before the World Cup will play with Iraq and Egypt in friendlies matches. The World Cup will be played from 20 November to 18 December in Qatar.
