Tebas to Al-Khelaifi: "At PSG, you open the gas, right?"

After PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made statements at an Assembly in Istanbul regarding clubs being operated in a "unsustainable" manner, La Liga president Javier Tebas responded.

Al-Khelaifi

, also the European Club Association (ECA) president, delivered a speech at an Assembly following the renewal of

UEFA's Financial Fair Play

in which he appeared to criticize Barcelona's efforts to improve the club's financial situation.

Paris Saint-Germain

's president was suspicious of 'magically injecting capital' and warned against unsustainable methods of running a football club at the conference, following Barcelona's use of multiple economic levers to fund their summer transfer window.

In response to Al-Khelaifi, the president of La Liga, Iigo Tebas, turned to

Twitter

to dismiss the concerns, writing, "there is no magic."

"Barcelona has sold part of its assets to cover its losses. At PSG, you instead 'open the gas',"

he wrote

: "For sustainable football, the first thing is to pay what is owed, RIGHT?"

Tebas and Al-Khelaifi have exchanged rhetorical blows as recently as June, when the latter criticized La Liga and referred to it as a "dead" league, to which Tebas reacted.

The president of La Liga had a busy summer, as

Barcelona

routinely pushed the financial limits of the league by selling various television and media rights to raise funds for player transfers, salary, and registration for the upcoming season.
