'Fabio Carvalho is a star'; Firmino hails new Liverpool player

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has heaped praise on their new player Fabio Carvalho.

Carvalho

joined Liverpool from Fulham this summer and

Firmino

admits he was already a fan of Carvalho before he came to Liverpool.

“He’s a great player,”

Firmino told the club's website.

“I confess that I had watched some of his games before he came to Liverpool, so I was already impressed by the way he played. He’s a star, he’s a great player and now he’s also a very close friend.

We are happy to have him here at Liverpool and I know he will help us a lot, with assists, goals, and also his character on the pitch.”

Carvalho suffered a dead leg last weekend against Everton.

"Fabio got a massive dead leg, which caused the muscle some problems, so it was no chance,"

Klopp explained.

"He’s walking now normal, but there was no chance to train until now.

"We hope now every day will get better and he will be ready for the weekend, but I’m not 100% sure."

The 20-year-old scored his first goal for the club against Bournemouth and then followed up with a dramatic, 98th-minute winner against Newcastle.

Liverpool last week lost 4-1 against Napoli in the Champions League and they are next in action on Tuesday when they face Ajax in the Champions League at Anfield.
