Mike Dean admits to getting decision on Cucurella’s hair pull wrong
Mike Dean has said that he should have told referee Anthony Taylor that Cristian Romero had pulled Marc Cucurella's hair when he tackled him.
Romero pulled
Marc Cucurelladown by his hair during Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but he evaded punishment for violent behavior despite replays confirming he had done so.

scored after Ivan Perisic's corner, and referee Taylor was criticized for not sending off Romero.
Mike Dean
, the VAR at Stamford Bridge, has accepted full responsibility for not referring Taylor to the pitch-side monitor. He admitted that not suggesting he watched the tape for potential violent conduct was wrong.
"NO REFEREE wants to leave a game regretting a call. You always want to do your best, whether you're a VAR looking for blatant faults or a referee, assistant, or fourth official.
"In retrospect, you might have acted differently. Sunday's match at Stamford Bridge has given me time to contemplate. As VAR at Stockley Park, we conducted discussions following the 2-2 draw between

I could not award a free kick as VAR, but I could recommend to Taylor that he visit the referee review area to consider a possible red card. The referee on the field always has the final say. It shows that no matter how experienced you are, and I've spenI'vere than two decades as a Premier League official, you are always learning.

There were some perfectly officiated games elsewhere, like Liverpool against Crystal Palace on Monday night which capped a great weekend of Premier League football."
