Bale and Chiellini were absent due to precaution reasons - LA FC boss

The two MLS stars were absent from their team's recent matches.

Los Angeles FC

head coach Steve Cherundolo believes that the absence of

Giorgio Chiellini

and

Gareth Bale

from his squad for fitness reasons is normal.

Chiellini  and Gareth Bale, who left for MLS in the summer, were absent from their team's recent win over DC United and also missed the 5-0 win over Charlotte FC. Cherundolo confirmed that the pair, who have played four games since moving to the United States in June, were absent for the two matches as a precaution.

He said:

"Gareth hasn't been 100 per cent. We are just kind of moving along. I think this is pretty normal – aches and pains in the middle of a pre-season for a player.

"Trying to get your body in a position where you can play 90 minutes week in, week out in the middle of a season is difficult and sometimes there are little mini-setbacks.

"That's where we currently are with both of them. But it is purely precautionary."
