Guardiola’s comments on Haaland after victory over West Ham

Erling Haaland began his Manchester City career on the right foot as he scored a brace in their victory over West Ham.

Manchester City

won the title last season but they did not have a killer instinct in front of the goal sometimes. Now, they have

Erling Haaland

, who joined the club this summer on a deal worth £51million.

The Norway international converted a penalty in the first half of the clash against West Ham, before scoring another goal after the break. However, he was denied to have a hat-trick as manager

Pep Guardiola

decided to rest his player and play Julian Alvarez.

When the City boss hear the comparisons to Haaland after one game, he laughed the comments off.

"One week ago, when he missed the chance, he was a failure. Everybody laughed at him and now he is Thierry Henry and Ronaldo."

He was then asked whether the Norwegian will be the club’s penalty taker, he said:

"The penalties is the guy who has the confidence to do it."

He then went on to praise his team for their performance against

West Ham

, saying:

"Kyle Walker was amazing today."

Next for Manchester City is a game against

Bournemouth

on Saturday.
