De Ligt: Salihamidzic is 'optimistic' after meeting with Juventus

Salihamidzić will return to Germany this afternoon.

Bayern Munich

started face-to-face talks for

Matthijs de Ligt

today and Juventus could reportedly accept €80m plus bonuses, reinvesting that sum to get

Nicolo Zaniolo

from Roma and a new defender.

The Bundesliga club made its position clear with the lightning visit of director

Hasan Salihamidzic

this afternoon, flying in and back out again from Turin after three hours, during which he spoke to both the Bianconeri and De Ligt’s agent Rafaela Pimenta.

According to Fabrizio Romano, they have agreed basic personal terms with the Dutch defender, but are still a long way off a transfer fee. Sportitalia maintain the deal could be cheaper than the original €100m asking price, because Juve are prepared to accept €75-80m plus add-ons to reach €90m.

That sum would then be reinvested to purchase creative midfielder Zaniolo from Roma at over €50m and a new defender to replace De Ligt. Tuttomercatoweb calculated that anything more than €34.28m would count as a profit for Juventus, seeing as they purchased De Ligt from Ajax in 2019 for €75m plus up to €10.5m in add-ons, so much of that after three years has already been amortized.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United also want De Ligt, but the Dutchman seems to have his heart set on Bayern Munich and Juve know they’re not going to get the same fee from them as any of the Premier League big spenders.
