Christopher Nkunku has penned a new deal with RB Leipzig that will keep him until 2026, committing his future to the Bundesliga side after Manchester United and Chelsea expressed their interest in recent months.

Although

Christopher Nkunku

penned a long-term deal with

RB Leipzig

, according to 90min, his release clause in the contract will be active next summer.

Nkunku made a move to Leipzig from

Paris Saint-Germain

in 2019 for a deal worth €13m plus add-ons but he continued to have a breakout season last season, meeting the target 35 times and contributing 19 assists in 50 matches.

Paris Saint-Germain were keen on re-signing the player this summer. According to 90min,

Kylian Mbappe

, who decided to reject a move to Real Madrid and commit to PSG, was eager to reunite with the 24-year-old.

However, Leipzig made it clear that they are not willing to cash in on him this summer. While he remains put with Leipzig, Konrad Laimer is on the verge of a departure. The Austrian was also impressive last season and attracted the attention of Manchester United. He is eager to join Bayern Munich and ex-Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann is trying his best to reunite with him at the Allianz Arena.

Laimer has not accepted the contract extension deal with Leipzig and the club are eyeing Edson Alvarez from Ajax and Glen Kamara from Rangers as potential replacements.
