Confrimed: Christensen will leave Chelsea amid Barcelona interest

After eleven years at Chelsea, Andreas Christensen will depart on a free transfer.

Andreas Christensen, a defender for

Chelsea

, has stated that he will quit the club when his contract expires later this month.

The Denmark international has been rumored to be a

Barcelona

transfer, and the story started circulating when he recently pulled himself out of Chelsea's FA Cup final loss to Liverpool due to "private" issues.

The

Premier League

club has also announced the exits of Danny Drinkwater, Charly Musonda, and Jake Clarke-Salter, as well as Antonio Rudiger, who was already set to join Real Madrid at the start of next month.

Christensen joined Chelsea as a youngster from Brondby in 2012, then went on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach for two seasons between 2015 and 2017.

During his career at Stamford Bridge, he made 161 appearances for the Blues, winning the Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Drinkwater, who joined Chelsea for a reputed £35 million from Leicester City in 2017, also departs following a disappointing five years at the club.

In total, the midfielder made just 23 appearances for the club, including loan spells at Burnley, Aston Villa, Kasimpasa, and Reading.
