s count of European Cup/Champions League titles, leaving only Madrid (13) with more. They would also avenge their 2018 final loss to Los Blancos.

Liverpool are favorites after finishing their domestic league season with a 19-match unbeaten run (16 wins, 3 draws). Madrid have already needed several spectacular comebacks in the competition, becoming the first team to reach a Champions League final after losing a match in each of the round-of-16, quarterfinals, and semifinals.

Since joining Liverpool from Porto in January, Diaz has scored six goals and assisted four more in 17 appearances. Diaz tempered expectations before an exciting final.

"I've always wanted to win the Champions League. Diaz: "I'm living a dream, especially against Real Madrid. "I want to be happy now. Favorites? No favorites.

"A final is minute-by-minute. 100% effort. What to do? The 25-year-old denied being the team's most in-form player. Everyone, not just me, is in great form to compete at a top-level. "The team's in good shape. If given the chance, I'll take it."

The winger also identified Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Toni Kroos as Madrid's significant threats. Benzema has scored 15 goals in the Champions League this season, two shy of Cristiano Ronaldo's record (17 for Madrid in 2013-14). "We know Real Madrid's team and experience," he remarked. "But we have a tremendous team and game, and we'll counter theirs. Best Real players? Karim, Vinicius, Toni Kroos."
