Ten Hag to test Man Utd against Simone’s Atletico Madrid

On the weekend before the start of the Premier League, Ten Hag’s Red Devils will go against Atletico at Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium.

The game on July 30 will see Manchester United go against the squad that eliminated them from the Champions League in the Round of 16 this season.

Ralf Rangnick managed their 1-1 draw in Madrid and it was followed by a 1-0 loss at Old Trafford. However, the interim boss has taken a consolatory role at the club and Ten Hag has replaced him when he agreed with a three-year contract.

John Murtough, the United football director, believes the game with Atletico would be an important fixture.

"Pre-season is such an important part of the squad's preparations for the season ahead,"

Murtough said.

"Our players and coaching staff will be relishing the opportunity to play against such a high-calibre opponent in Atletico Madrid, as well as the chance to perform in front of a full stadium of passionate Norwegian fans."

United ended their season on the lowest point ever since 1989-90. Atletico, meanwhile, ended the season sitting third on the table as Real Madrid won the La Liga title and Barcelona ended second.
