Moratti: I still believe Inter can win the Scudetto
Massimo Moratti, the former Inter President,'still believes' in the Scudetto this season.
Former
InterPresident
Massimo Moratti
still believes' in the Scudetto this season, and thinks that
Giovanni Simeone
can avenge his father Diego's loss to Milan in 2002 by defeating the Rossoneri.
The Nerazzurri are momentarily in first place after beating
Empoli4-2 last night after coming back from 2-0 down.
Milanstill have a game against
Hellas Verona
on Sunday evening, and they need to win to keep their two-point advantage.
"It's now superstition and waiting for Milan to make a mistake," Moratti told L'Interista. "Of course, I still believe in the Scudetto, as I have since the beginning." We've obviously demonstrated that we have the character to accomplish it and compete for the crown."
With Giovanni Simeone in charge, the reality that Milan must play Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi has not gone unnoticed. On May 5, 2002, Giovanni's father, Diego Simeone, was on target as Lazio defeated Inter 4-2 and delivered the Scudetto to Juventus.
"It could be the perfect solution to complete the circle and rekindle our connection with Cholo!" Moratti exclaimed. "I'm hoping it turns out that way!" I'm kidding; we'll always be friends with Simeone, even though some things are difficult to forget after all these years."
