Capoue unveils Unai Emery's tactics for the Bayern Munich games

Villarreal are still glowing with their historic victory last night, and Etienne Capoue was no exception.

LaLiga

's Yellow Submarine carried a 1-0 advantage to the Allianz Arena, and while Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski equalized early in the second half,

Villarreal

advanced to the semi-finals thanks to a late Samuel Chukwueze strike.

After the game, Capoue joined Dani Parejo and Unai Emery in expressing their dissatisfaction with the tie's storyline. As the Frenchman talked to bein Sports, his words were reported by

Mundo Deportivo

“Everything the press said, that motivated us. I think they lacked a little humility. It’s incredible, we’re impacting all of Europe!”

Capoue then moved on to the concepts Emery had established in the players ahead of the game, detailing how they managed to get through a grueling 90 minutes.

“We were solid, we knew we were going to suffer but we had a plan: let them come and defend well, and we knew we would have an opportunity. We showed it, we gambled everything, one goal was enough to get through to the semi-finals.”

The center midfielder's delight was palpable as he laughed and grinned throughout the chat. He even intimated that they might be able to make it all the way.

“We are giant-slayers! No, in reality I don’t think we are giant-slayers, but we are a solid team, we played with heart, we enjoyed the moment. We’re living a dream, we need to take advantage of the moment. We didn’t win anything today, we’re just in the semi-finals.”

Villarreal will meet the winner of Wednesday's match between Liverpool and Benfica in the

Champions League

semi-finals. The hosts currently have a 3-1 lead over the Portuguese.
