Barcelona keen on signing Celta defender Javi Galan to back Jordi Alba
Barcelona are looking to add a left-back to their squad this summer.
As things are, Jordi Alba is the sole senior player in that role, and he isn't getting any younger. Nicolas Tagliafico and Alejandro Grimaldo have previously been mentioned as candidates.
The
LaLigapowerhouse have been tracking the Celta Vigo defender for some time and believe he has the right characteristics to challenge Alba. Galan is 27 and Alba is 33 years old.
Galan's deal with Celta, though, continues until 2026, which might be a sticking hurdle. Although Barca and Celta have a strong connection, a move would have to be arranged.
However, while
Barcelonawould like to recruit a left-back this summer, it is not a top priority at the moment. The major focus is on Ronald Araujo, Gavi, and Ousmane Dembele's contracts being renewed, as well as luring in a top-level striker.
