Arteta reaches Wenger feat with Manager of the Month award

Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for March, beating out Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp.

Mikel Arteta was voted Manager of the Month for March in the

Premier League

, giving him his second honor of the season.

The Gunners manager's award was revealed on Friday, making him the first boss since

Arsene Wenger

in 2007-08 to be honored twice in the same season.

Arteta, who was named Manager of the Month in September after leading his team to three wins in three matches, was recognized for his team's nine points in four games.

Arsenal's March points total was matched by four other clubs, including

Chelsea

and

Liverpool

, both of which had perfect records.

However, the Spaniard was picked ahead of either Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea through a turbulent month off the pitch, or Jurgen Klopp, whose Liverpool side gave Arsenal their lone defeat.

Arsenal

jumped from sixth place at the start of March to fourth place at the end of April, passing West Ham and Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently Arsenal's closest top-four competitors in fifth place, three points behind them despite having played one more game.

Arsenal's next encounter comes at Crystal Palace on Monday, when they will be attempting to win their sixth consecutive league away match.

The Gunners' current five-match unbeaten streak is their longest in a single season since May 2002 (eight) (also eight).
