Bayern Munich keen on signing Middlesbrough's right-back Djed Spence

Djed Spence, a Middlesbrough right-back, is a target for Bayern Munich.

Bundesliga

leaders have been keeping an eye on the 21-year-old, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest, in recent games and will continue to do so in the future.

If they remain to be as enthused as they have been thus far,

Bayern Munich

is expected to approach Middlesbrough about a summer move in the coming weeks, according to sources.

Bundesliga opponents Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig, as well as many big

Premier League

teams, are keeping tabs on Spence's development at the City Ground.

Spurs and Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old this season as they seek a new full-back, and both contemplated making January offers.

Because of Boro's desire for playing Isiah Jones at right wing-back, Spence was permitted to join Forest on loan. Jones has also had a fantastic season at the Riverside.

This season, the abovementioned Bundesliga clubs, as well as notable Premier League clubs, have been keeping an eye on him, but he has played fewer senior games than Spence.

A number of German teams, especially Bayern Munich, have made recruiting young English talent a priority in their recruitment plans.

Last summer, Bayern Munich recruited former England U21 left-winger Omar Richards from Reading, while Scotland U19 Liam Morrison, 18, plays for Bayern Munich II.

Jamal Musiala, who is currently a Germany international, started his career in England's junior systems at Southampton and Chelsea before joining Bayern Munich in 2019.

The Bavarians are now actively considering Spence, whose agreement with Boro ends in 2023 and for whom the club is willing to listen to proposals.

Spence has played a key role in Forest's ascent up the league under Steve Cooper, leading the Championship in successful dribbles (48).

He's also retrieved the ball more times (150 vs. 139), thrown more interceptions (45 vs. 25), and completed more forward passes than Jones (388 v 221).

Jones, on the other hand, has eight assists to Spence's two, 40 opportunities to Spence's 23, 70 crosses to Spence's 57, and more tackles won (60 v 44).

Spence, who boasts the quickest pace of any full-back in the

Championship

, is scheduled to start for Forest versus Sheffield United on Friday night.
