Ziyech will not play for Morocco again

Chelsea’s high-profile midfielder says it is clear that he will not play for Morocco again.

Hakim Ziyech

faced a problem with

Morocco

head coach

Vahid Halilhodzic

after a friendly match against

Burkina Faso

in July 2021 and has not played for his country ever since despite his quality and importance in his club.

Morocco was eliminated by

Egypt

in the quarter-finals of AFCON, and now Ziyech has talked about the possibility of his return to the national team, insisting that he is not welcomed in the national team

"even if his name was Lionel Messi".

He has told ADSports TV that it is clear for him that he will not return to the national team until Halilhodzic is their boss.

"I understand them, but I will not return to the Moroccan national team and this is my final decision,"

Ziyech said

.

"It's all clear for me how things are going over there and I am focusing on what I am doing and, right now, that is my club.

"At the end of the day, it's a decision he makes and you have to respect it. All the lying that comes with it, it's, for me, clear and I will not return to the national team.

"I understand and feel sorry for [the fans], but that's the situation we're in."
