Dzeko turned down Conte's offer twice

The Bosnian striker has performed well so far under Simone Inzaghi.

Inter Milan

striker

Edin Dzeko

has claimed that he never thought about

Romelu Lukaku

, and also stressed that he turned down offers from Inter and Chelsea during Antonio Conte's time.

The former Roma striker replaced Lukaku this season and has been Inter's top scorer so far alongside Lautaro Martinez. Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 games for the Nerazzurri, but Dzeko claimed that he never thought about the Belgian striker when he transferred to Inter.

“If you go somewhere and start thinking about who was there before you, then it’s better to go nowhere.

“Had I thought about it even once, I’d never come here. I know what I can give and what I am doing this season is not surprising me.”

Asked about Antonio Conte, former Man City striker replied:

“When he wanted me at Chelsea, I wasn’t sure about a return to the Premier League, but he tried again when he was at Inter,” Dzeko revealed.

“The right moment [to join Inter] came last summer. Our paths had to meet sooner or later. It was destiny.”
