Alba's critics are 'killing' him after he plays a bad game

The Spanish defender has experienced many ups and downs this season.

Barcelona

defender

Jordi Alba

has claimed that he has been killed by his critics every time he has performed badly.

The Spanish defender has been on Barcelona's left side for a decade and is having a difficult season this year. Since his first game for the club in August 2012, he has made 408 appearances for the Blaugrana and won 15 trophies with the club. However, criticism of Alba peaked after Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Supercopa and were eliminated from the competition. After his good performance in the 1-0 victory over

Deportivo Alaves

, Alba expressed his displeasure with his critics.

"I have felt singled out for many years, it is not the first time it has happened to me. I accept the criticism that there is in this circus. Criticism will always be there, I have assumed it.

"If I play a good game they won't talk about me, if I don't play well like the other day [against Athletic], I admit it, they will kill me. I have accepted it.

"I don't care because I have respect from my team-mates and from all the coaching staff I've had.

"It seems that there are only 'veterans' in Barcelona. There has been talk of veterans for four or five years, and I was 28, damn it. But I've always accepted it."
