Solskjaer to continue at Old Trafford despite derby defeat

The Manchester United boss has been under immense pressure since his side's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool two weeks ago.

Manchester United were defeated 2-0 by Manchester City in a Premier League game on Saturday. The derby defeat once again intensified the speculations around Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future at Old Trafford. However, there is no indication that the English giants are looking to change the Norwegian manager any time soon.

Speaking to

Sky Sports

after the game, Gary Neville suggested a decision on Solskjaer's future will not be made until after Ed Woodward's departure at the end of the year.

However, according to the English broadcaster's newer report, the departure of the club's executive vice-chairman will have no effect on their potential decision on replacing Solskjaer. Manchester United's board are reportedly in charge of such decisions, with Joe Glazer having the final word.

Asked whether he thinks he is on borrowed time after the Man City defeat, Solskjaer responded:

"No, I don't start to feel like that,"

he told

Sky Sports

.

"I have good communication all the time with the club that's very upfront and honest about the situation.

"I'm sure when we come back the players will be fresh in their minds from internationals, and of course the demands on the players, on me, are going to be high.

"We've just got to get back to what we started to look like and what we were for a while. We've got the players to do that.

"We've been through this a few times. Since the last game we played here [Liverpool defeat], it's been a very difficult period and we've gone away from what we used to be. We need to be on the front foot more, I can't look at myself and say this is the way I want Manchester United to play."

Solskjaer is reportedly set to sit on Man United's bench for their first game after the international break. The Red Devils will face Watford at the Vicarage Road Stadium on November 20.
