Barca have a failsafe clause in case Fati’s contract talks are stalled

The Blaugrana have the right to extend the 18-year-old’s contract, although they cannot strike a deal.

Ansu Fati

is on the verge of receiving new terms, and

Barcelona

believe he can play a key role in the future as the 18-year-old also took Lionel Messi’s number 10.

Fati’s contract is due to expire next summer, but the Catalans are negotiating with his agent, Jorge Mendes, about a new deal.

As per reports from

Sport

, the talks are going in the right direction and there seem to be no hiccups.

Mendes believes Camp Nou is the best place for Fati to develop as a player and he knows the financial struggles of the club.

Fati’s deal is expected to have a pay rise, which will not be huge, but it will contain variables in cases of achieving the objectives. During Fati’s last contract, a two-year extension was added to the deal, which means Barca can trigger the option and lock the teenager for about €55,000.

However, the Blaugrana are not planning to do that and they would rather offer him a new deal with a pay increase.
