Ronaldo Nazario: I’m still an Inter fan

Ronaldo Nazario is widely considered among the best football players of all time. The two-time Balon d’Or winner, who played for Inter between 1997-2002, won the UEFA Cup title with the Nerazzurri in 1998.

In a new interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the legendary striker has spoken about Inter’s Serie A triumph udder Antonio Conte.

“I’m an Inter fan, I maintain a special relationship with Inter and I always want them to win.”

the 44-year-old said.

“The last championship was wonderful, ‘we’ interrupted Juventus’ winning streak, it will be remembered for a long time.”

Inter saw one of their key players leave the club after the Scudetto win. Romelu Lukaku left the club to

his former side Chelsea this summer, with Inter signing Edin Dzeko as his replacement.

Ronaldo added:

“It’s too bad that [Romelu] Lukaku has returned to England, but it’s hard to resist when the top clubs in the Premier League call.

“Chelsea have made use of all their financial power. For me, the big favourites are still Inter. Lukaku left, but the team remains strong and balanced.

“They have brought in [Edin] Dzeko and made other significant signings, there are many interesting young players in the group.”

With the departure of Lukaku,

Lautaro Martinez

and

Joaquin Correa

are expected to be given more attacking responsibilities upfront. However, Ronaldo believes Dzeko will also push to secure his place in the starting lineup.

“I don’t know if they will be the two starters upfront,” he said. “There’s also Dzeko. Lautaro will certainly play, but yes, Martinez and Correa guarantee a good number of goals.

“The season is long, and they will be used together in many games.”

Inter will take on Sampdoria in their next Serie A game on Sunday, before facing Real Madrid in the Champions League three days later.
