Juventus rejected opportunity to sign Cavani

The Uruguayan star was close to returning to Serie A.

Italian sources claim that

Juventus

had a chance to sign Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, but turned it down.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus this summer and returned to Old Trafford to make one of the most controversial summer transfers. However, after Ronaldo's departure, Juventus no longer had a quality striker in their attack. The Bianconeri were able to sign Moise Kean from Everton, but reports suggest that they also had a chance to sign Cavani on the final day of the transfer window.

Calciomercato

claimed that Manchester United offered Cavani to Juventus after Ronaldo's transfer, but the Bianconeri rejected the offer due to Cavani's high salary. The Uruguayan star earns 250,000 pounds a week, which was impossible for Juve due the club's economic situation. Thus, instead of attracting an experienced striker, the Old Lady decided to go to the young Moise Kean and sign him as Ronaldo's successor.
