Sterling pens a new Chelsea deal and goes to Blackpool on loan

The Seasiders are going to acquire the Chelsea player’s services as they were promoted to English football’s second-tier.

Chelsea

have reached an agreement with

Dujan Sterling

over a two-year contract extension and he will play for

Blackpool

on a loan spell in the Championship for the 2021/22 season.

The Chelsea right-back will also stay at Stamford Bridge for another year after showing off impressive performances in pre-season under the reign of

Thomas Tuchel

.

The 21-year-old, who had his debut for the Blues in 2017 under Antonio Conte, had a turnaround; however, he struggled with injury for 13 months and another illness that was not Covid-19.

The Blues boss played Sterling at centre-back rather than wing-back in the pre-season clashes. Tuchel has praised the youngster and wanted to promote him to the first team as he saw his training and potential behind the scenes.

However, Trevoh Chalobah took the opportunity that Sterling could have had with Chelsea not accepting to send him on a loan spell. Lille, Valencia and Brugge wanted to acquire his services on a loan deal, but they have been turned down.

After Malang Sarr, Ethan Ampadu and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all received offers, the Blues want to weigh up loan options for other players.

Tuemoue Bakayoko is close to penning a two-year extension deal and departing for a loan spell to Milan. Should they secure Champions League qualification, the Blues will get €1m per year and another €1m. A €17m purchase option is also included if certain conditions are met.

The Premier League giants are also hoping to cash in on Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley and Lewis Baker.

The Blues are trying to acquire Jules Kounde, but they have yet to reach an agreement with the La Liga side who demand a £77m release clause.
