Arsenal aim to re-sign Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard

The Gunners are negotiating with Los Blancos over re-signing the midfielder on a permanent deal this time.

According to reports in Spain,

Martin Odegaard

is not going to feature for

Real Madrid

in their La Liga opening clash at Alaves on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was playing for

Arsenal

in the second half of the 2020-21 season, featuring in 14 matches under the reign of

Mikel Arteta

.

The attacking midfielder’s deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire in 2023 and his transfer fee will be around £35-40m.

Arsenal were also eyeing Leicester’s James Maddison but they are not willing to cash in on the England international.

Arteta’s side have penned papers with Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are also in talks with Sheffield United and Chelsea for shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale and Tammy Abraham before the window closes.

Arteta said:

"Anything is possible and there are still a lot of things to be done and a lot of clubs involved.

"You can see that the ball starts to roll at a different speed in the last week or so. It's been a really difficult transfer window and probably a lot of things will happen in the last week or so.

"It's how deals develop and sometimes something that is not possible to do on the 12th of August is possible to do on the last day. Whether you are happy bringing the player in or not I think is more important."
