Messi in direct contact with PSG

The former Barcelona captain is very close to transferring to the French capital.

Lionel Messi has reportedly been linked with Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino after leaving

Barcelona

.

Barcelona announced yesterday that they have not been able to extend Messi's contract, and therefore, the Argentine superstar is currently considered a free agent. The two sides agreed to extend, but La Liga rules prevented Messi from continuing his 21-year presence at Barca.

Now that the winner of the six Ballons d'Or no longer has a contract with Barca, he should consider joining another club for next season. Few clubs are able to sign Messi, and Paris Saint-Germain is one of them, and it seems that progress has been made in this transfer.

Athletic

reported that Messi has started his transfer and was in contact with his compatriot Pochettino on Thursday evening. Negotiations on behalf of Paris Saint-Germain by Nasser Al-Khelaif will continue soon. Paris Saint-Germain have spent a lot of money this summer attracting stars such as Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi, and now their main concern will be paying Messi's wage. However, they are thinking that the advertising profit of attracting Messi is worth the cost, and now it remains to be seen what the conditions will be for the former Barcelona captain.
