Odegaard must decide over his future at Real Madrid amid Arsenal links

Arsenal are still hopeful to sign Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard this summer with the Norwegian considering to end his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Odegaard

had a successful spell at the Emirates in the second half of last season, and

Mikel Arteta

was hoping to have tied the midfielder to a new deal before he moved back to Madrid after the end of his loan spell.

The 22-year-old has recently said it has always been a dream for him to play for

Real Madrid

.

“Of course it has always been a dream to play there,”

he said of Real Madrid

.

“I have been in the club for over six years now, and that has always been the goal. I always want to play, I have said that all the time. Playing hard is important.”

Carlo Ancelotti

has already met with Odegaard to inform him that he is an important part of his plans for the upcoming season.

But the midfielder is aware that he will face a difficult competition with

Casemiro

,

Toni Kroos

, and

Luka Modric

if he wants to be a regular at the club.

However, he can skip that step at

Arsenal

, where he would become a guaranteed first-team starter.

Now the 22-year-old is in a dilemma whether to sign for a team that are not close to competing for a title or risk being on the bench and compete for both the La Liga title and the Champions League.

Arsenal have already shown interest in Odegaard, highlighting him as a priority this summer, now it’s time for Real Madrid to show him he is an important part of their future.

If Los Blancos fail to do that, Odegaard may decide to leave and become a key part of Mikel Arteta’s project.
