Liverpool's Grujic signed a permanent deal with Porto after loan stint

After five years with Liverpool, the Serbian international played last season as a loanee with the Portuguese giants and now permanently joined them.

Liverpool's summer departures are picking up speed, with midfielder Marko Grujic poised to join

Porto

for £10.5 million ($14 million).

The Serbian playmaker was seen landing in Portugal late Monday evening after being granted clearance to leave the Reds' training facility in Austria to complete his transfer.

According to

Goal.com

, the agreement is worth a solid £10.5 million ($14 million). Liverpool has also secured a 10% sell-on option, which they expect to gain from in the future, given Porto's track record in player trades.

Grujic was Liverpool's first acquisition under Jurgen Klopp, arriving from Red Star Belgrade with a £5 million ($7 million) move in 2016.

He played eight games in his debut season on Merseyside and six in his second but has since gone on loan to a number of other clubs. He joined

Cardiff

in January 2018 after two seasons with

Hertha Berlin

in the

Bundesliga

Last summer, Liverpool planned to sell him, but no offers came in, so Grujic moved to Porto on a season-long loan spell in October.

He appeared in 36 games across all tournaments, scoring twice and assisting Sergio Conceicao's side to land up at the

Champions League

quarter-finals when they were defeated by reigning champions, Chelsea.

It has been reported that both Sporting CP and Sassuolo attempted to recruit Grujic this summer. Last month, Sporting had a bid worth about £6 million ($8 million) rejected, while Sassuolo's interest was contingent on the departure of Italian Euro 2020 star Manuel Locatelli, allowing Porto to steal a march and seal the deal.

Several exits are likely in the following weeks for Liverpool, including Grujic.

Taiwo Awoniyi

, a Nigerian striker, has signed a £6.5 million ($9 million) agreement with Union Berlin, while Fulham are preparing to resume their pursuit for the Wales international

Harry

Wilson

Lazio are interested in

Xherdan Shaqiri

, while Liverpool are open to bids for

Neco Williams

and

Nat Phillips

. The future of Divock Origi is also unknown, while

Takumi Minamino

is expected to stay at the club this season, according to reports.

Furthermore, reports of a deadlock in contract talks with captain

Jordan Henderson

made a buzz on Monday, with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain allegedly keeping an eye on the matter.

On the other hand, Henderson is unlikely to be permitted to depart this summer if he even wants to. Sources claim that negotiations with Liverpool are still ongoing, with more talks expected regarding a new contract for the midfielder, whose current agreement lapses in 2023.
