Szczesny as the first keeper credited with own goal at the Euros

The Bianconeri goalkeeper set an own goal record for himself in Poland’s Euro 2020 clash against Slovakia.

Wojciech Szczesny

’s unfortunate record was set on Monday as the

Juventus

shot-stopper is now the first to have an own goal in the Euros’ history.

Slovakia

led the first half of the game during their opening clash of the competition after only 18 minutes into the match.

Robert Mak

’s solo effort in creating the goal, dancing through the Polish defenders on the left-hand side of the pitch, was considered as Szczesny’s, as the deflected goal hit the post, bounced back and touched the unfortunate goalkeeper’s stretched arm.

It was the Euros’ second own goal, with the first one also being created by a Juventus’ player,

Merih Demiral

, who was responsible for the tournament’s opening goal in the clash between Italy and Turkey.
