Breaking News: Eriksen in stable condition after collapse on the pitch

Inter midfielder and Denmark captain Christian Eriksen went to the ground during their Euro 2020 opening match against Finland in Copenhagen.

The 29-year-old suddenly collapsed during the Group B match between

Denmark and Finland

and required extensive medical attention on the pitch.

Referee

Anthony Taylor

immediately blew his whistle and brought proceedings to a halt. Denmark and Finland immediately called for the medical staff, who raced onto the pitch to administer treatment.

The Danish FA, the DBU, report that

Christian Eriksen

is awake and has been brought to the hospital in Copenhagen for further examination.

After he was taken to the hospital, UEFA released word that he'd been "stabilized."
