Former Nerazzurri forward praises the Beligian striker for his physicality and determination.

Romelu Lukaku

has been a key player for

Inter

in their march toward the Scudetto in the current Serie A season. The Belgian striker has scored 19 goals in his 26 league appearances for the Nerazzurri as they lead the table with a six-point clearance.

Jurgen Klinsmann

believes the 27-year-old has established himself as a leader in Inter’s squad.

“I say this as a forward: today Romelu Lukaku is among the top five centre-forwards in Europe.”

He told

La Gazzetta dello Sport

.

“He doesn’t have God’s gift of Lionel Messi’s technique, but he gives everything over 90 minutes with running, physicality, grit and determination.

“In a team, there are those who give and those who take. Lukaku gives. He’s a leader, he marches on and creates the spaces for Lautaro Martinez, so the Argentine always knows where the ball will end up.

“They have a very similar rapport to the one I had with Aldo Serena, they know each other perfectly.”

Lukaku is seven goals behind

Cristiano Ronaldo

in their race for the Capocannoniere as the Portuguese superstar eyes the first Serie A top scorer prize of his career.
