Inter owners suspend all of their Chinese Super League operations
CSL champions Jiangsu FC could potentially miss the next season unless another company invests in the club.
Earlier this month,
Jiangsu Suning
’s chairman
Zhang Jindong
ordered the company’s non-retail businesses to shut down as much as possible. The company owners, who also own Serie A club
Inter, have now announced that they will stop all of their operations in the Chinese Super League. It has also been reported that Jiangsu Suning is prepared to sell
Jiangsu FCat a low price. This means that the reigning champions might miss their chance to compete in the CSL’s next season unless a new company invests in the club.
"Due to the overlap of various uncontrollable elements, Jiangsu Football Club cannot effectively guarantee the continuation of the activity: from now on, Jiangsu Football Club will stop,”
Jiangsu Suning said in an official statement.
“Over the past six months, the club has gone to great lengths to ensure succession, without missing out on any opportunities. The activity of each team will be stopped. At the same time, we expect issues relating to future development to continue on a larger scale, perhaps with new companies willing to take over.”
